   Time

   I was watching TV the other day while a few friends were sitting around talking about the release of the next Harry Potter movie. There was a tiny debate going on whether or not it’s good that it’s being released in 2 parts or whether it’s unneccessary. My roommate said it’s better because of the anticipation. The latter said that they should just release them back to back so that nobody would have to wait very long. I then looked at the TV and thought about the idea of sitcoms. The fact that we tune in every week to see what’s going to happen next. This theme can be asserted to everything. We always look forward to what’s happening next. This is not a bad thing, but I feel like if this view is used in excess, it produces extreme boredom. We will always wonder what we could be doing had we made a different decision, or talking about our future plans, or thinking about the next book in a trilogy or the next movie or the next show in a series. In my mind, I’d like to take this as a chance to really really appreciate the “now,” whatever that is. The moment you are involved in can be the most beautiful moment, if you can appreciate the now. I went to a friend’s house yesterday and there was a dead bird and a honeycomb on the ground in front of his house. Had I been rushing in to the house, I would not have noticed these things. I would not have noticed the scorpion on the floor this morning either. I think the goal I’m making to myself is that I want to slow down time. I want to be (more) fully immersed in what is happening RIGHT NOW.
